Emily joins Overland as a Sales Area Specialist on the client development team, with a focus on urban design and commercial work. Once described by a mentor as a “professional urban nerd,” she is adept at mixing lessons from the world of startups with the needs of the people that shape the built environment, having worked in commercial real estate, urban design, and construction.
She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a Morehead-Cain Scholar studying environmental science and geography, but spent much of her time outside of class learning to tell stories with a camera. After graduating, Emily joined Venture for America as a 2014 Fellow and moved to San Antonio and back to her home state.
When not working, Emily loves to cook, read, and adventure on weekends to farmers markets and state parks alike (and if it’s basketball season, she’ll be cheering on the Tar Heels). She loves teaching herself about web development and design and is hopefully improving her sketching skills while working around dozens of architects.
