The Marie Selby Gardens is the first “net power positive” botanic complex in the world. It is also in the elite inaugural class of facilities designated as “Living Communities” by the International Living Features Institute.

Our design for the new Green Orchid Restaurant the Selby Gardens is the first net power positive full-service restaurant in the world. This ambitious project utilizes sustainable design, on site power generation and a roof mounted organic garden to deliver a world class “roof farm to table” experience.

Immediately adjacent to the Student Activities Center also designed by Overland, we linked the two buildings together to leverage the rejected chilled water from the Student Activities Center, reusing it to provide the entire cooling needs for the new School of Liberal Arts, effectively providing free cooling and heating for this 300,000 square foot facility.

Bio-Safety Level 4 Laboratories which allow scientists to work with dangerous pathogens are notoriously difficult to design, build and commission. Overland’s work for Texas Bio-Med Level 4 Laboratory is the least expensive lab of its kind to be built, the fastest commissioning time ever recorded and the only Level 4 Laboratory built with a window to the exterior.

Excellence at any Scale

Innovation exists at all levels of our projects as we work alongside our clients to solve unique challenges. Case in point? One client wanted to host gatherings in their wine cellar at a comfortable room temperature, while still storing their wine in open air at a proper temperature of almost 20°F below room temperature. To meet the need, Overland designed a completely new custom air system, the kind of which had never been created before.
