The new home for Dougherty Arts Center (DAC) will be a hub for community arts in the heart of Austin. Through their mission of supporting artists of all ages, the new DAC is designed to invite the community into the arts with studio spaces, a school, a gallery, and performance theaters offering programming and classes for adults, children and families. Its ‘pavilion in the park’ design preserves existing green space and trees on Butler Shores, and celebrates the trail network along Lady Bird Lake. A new arts promenade along Riverside Drive will connect the DAC to the PARD main office, the ZACH theatres campus, and other programming on Butler Shores. The new DAC aspires to be a place where the community can gather and celebrate the art and artists showcased at the Center.
