The Future of Fair Park

Fair Park Capital Improvement Plan

Dallas, Texas, USA

Assessing an iconic landmark to envision a revitalized future.

Client

Fair Park First

Project Size

277 Acres

Dallas’ iconic Fair Park is a 277-acre work of experiential art located in South Dallas that is unlike any other place in the world. Overland was hired to modernize the facilities, home to the landmark Cotton Bowl Stadium and Fair Park Coliseum, with a series of studies. The studies being conducted are in order to determine the overall scope of upgrades to buildings on site. This includes 7 exhibition halls and 3 venues, totaling more than 450,000 sf. Overland has partnered with an all-local team with national experience in sports and entertainment, performing arts, historic preservation, art, engineering, and costing that hold an equally powerful quality and diversity of thought.

Fair Park has the potential to be one of the most significant, iconic, urban entertainment and sports destination environments anywhere in the world. Ultimately, this monumental once-in-a-lifetime project is much bigger than a quantified economic impact.

Bryan K. Trubey, FAIA, Overland Senior Principal

Recapturing visitor revenue for local use is the greatest opportunity to elevate these unique facilities inside Fair Park, which will amount to the largest single investment in the future of Fair Park for the citizens of Dallas. The resulting improvements to facilities such as the Band Shell, Coliseum, Cotton Bowl Stadium, and Exhibition Halls will bring those facilities into the 21st century and make them attractive for increased year-round use now and well into the future.
