If baseball is in your blood, Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, is one of the best places to catch a game. Home of the Texas Rangers, the state-of-the-art stadium is covered by the largest single-panel retractable roof in the world. This 5.5-acre panel of translucent ETFE allows ample daylight to bathe the field while achieving comfortable temperatures within the stadium.
Globe Life Field is designed as a uniquely-Texan version of baseball nostalgia, while deftly accommodating the massive structure required to support an operable roof. The building is clad in brick, limestone, steel and glass, much of which was sourced locally. Its large-scale front porches and rocking chairs, reminiscent of Texas ranch houses, welcome visitors at main entrances and continue throughout the complex.
Inside, fans have a huge choice of viewing options, with 40,300 seats that span seven tiers and a 360-degree walkable concourse on both the lower and upper levels. Multiple premium seating options include the Dugout Club, a sunken seating area that provides closeup views of field action. The Sky Porch on the upper level feels like one of your favorite BBQ restaurants, with some locals referring to it as the “best rooftop bar in Dallas-Ft. Worth,” a trend aimed at a younger demographic. Fans never lose site of the game with two massive video scoreboards.
Next to the stadium, on its 13-acre site, is Texas Live!, an entertainment complex that features six restaurants, 25 bars, a brewery, hotel, convention center, courtyard, retail stores and clubs, with a 150,000 square foot venue, built by the Rangers for a variety of entertainment possibilities.
