Perched on the point of the rugged Pacific coast bay, this private sanctuary captures the earthy spirit of the clients’ inspiration, Imanta, while remaining contextual and wholly original. The narrow, deep lot amidst rugged terrain and scrubby foliage posed a unique challenge. Overland’s ingenuity harmonized with the landscape and the property’s magnificent views, drawing inspiration from the region’s cascading waterfalls. The result is a testament to the clients’ vision—a contemporary masterpiece embodying a uniquely Mexican spirit that seamlessly integrates with its surroundings. Unlike the typical Spanish Colonial layouts of neighboring homes, the entry sequence of this eight-building compound is a revelation, guiding visitors through a series of intimate spaces adorned with water features and art pieces before unveiling a panorama of the Pacific. Designed to entertain guests, private and social spaces are integrated — each of the six independent casitas boasts its own private terrace, while shared courtyards and a series of pools and outdoor spaces foster communal connections. Despite narrow neighborhood design restrictions, the Overland team relied on shapes and design to guide light into the space, creating contemporary lines and giving the residence texture and context.

The building is a picture frame that sets you up to view the ocean.
