Project Status
In 1927, Temple Beth-El opened its doors, establishing a vital spiritual center for the growing San Antonio congregation. Today, the temple stands as a testament to community and shared heritage, continuing to foster connections among new generations. OVERLAND’s renovation of the Wulfe Sanctuary honors the founder’s original vision while enhancing the space’s “quiet majestic grandeur.” Our design approach focused on creating an elevated experience that fosters intimacy during services. A level floor with flexible seating options will strengthen relationships within the Temple Beth-El community by accommodating a variety of events, from intimate worship services to weddings and large performances. By reimagining the procession to the sanctuary, we improved both accessibility and security across the campus. The redesign also enhances the spatial organization, honoring the extraordinary legacy inherited from predecessors while allowing for future flexibility and growth. We employed acoustic, lighting, heating, and air conditioning strategies that support both the physical well-being of congregants and their spiritual experience. This comprehensive approach not only revitalizes the sanctuary but also supports the evolution of the Temple Beth-El campus, bridging its rich traditions with the opportunities of tomorrow.
Let’s create meaningful experiences that move and inspire.
