The historic St. Anthony Hotel had undergone six major additions over its lifetime, gradually diminishing its luxury status to a subpar efficiency experience. These ad hoc additions compromised operational capacity, carving functional space into unusable portions, while bathrooms and guestrooms did not meet contemporary luxury standards. OVERLAND undertook a transformative renovation, stripping away decades of interventions to recapture the hotel’s original essence. Drawing on San Antonio’s rich culture, they infused interior details with Fiesta traditions and tributes to notable San Antonians. Architectural restraint was employed to highlight the hotel’s best features, simplifying elements like columns and molding to complement midcentury design influences.

Key spaces, including ballrooms, meeting rooms, restrooms, and the main lobby, were reorganized, and offices were relocated to enhance guest areas. The iconic “Peacock Alley” was restored as a standalone event space. The underutilized rooftops were revitalized, opening the pool deck and tenth-floor rooftop to create a resort-like atmosphere with urban views. A larger pool, cabanas, and glass railing transformed the space into a leisurely retreat, perfect for weddings and events with stunning San Antonio sunset views. With improved functionality and consistent luxury, The St. Anthony Hotel has re-emerged as a prime destination, celebrated for its renewed identity and storied past.
