Continuing Overland’s partnership with The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), the San Pedro II project is part of a broader effort to rejuvenate the historic downtown area, bridging with San Pedro I to integrate classrooms and meeting spaces with the Surrounding San Pedro Creek Culture Park, fostering an inclusive ecosystem for students and the community. San Pedro II will offer collaborative advanced interdisciplinary programs in business, computer engineering, hardware/software development and sciences, fostering immersive learning and opportunity for professional development.
Transitioning from design to construction after receiving funding approval in August 2023, the Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Careers building broke ground in October 2023. Expanding upon the LEED Gold success of San Pedro I, this new facility represents a commitment to sustainability and experiential higher education in downtown San Antonio.
Designed by the Overland | Gensler team and constructed by Turner Construction Company, San Pedro II further extends UTSA’s downtown presence, advancing experiential learning and talent development across Texas. Working in tandem with academic programs and research collaborations in the School of Data Science and National Security Collaboration Center in San Pedro I, this project strengthens UTSA’s role in educational innovation and urban revitalization, fostering synergy between academia and community.
This building is going to make our city a great spot on the map when it comes to innovation and entrepreneurship, new technology, cybersecurity, all the things that we want to be a leader in this world. This building and what happens in this building is going to be a major part of that.
Ron Nirenberg, Mayor of San Antonio
San Pedro II is an important milestone in actualizing UTSA’s downtown vision. We are working to create meaningful connections between the university, downtown industry, and cultural destinations that will benefit UTSA students by enhancing experiential learning opportunities.
