The University of Texas System engaged Overland to assist with a bold, transformational plan to create a new university in South Texas. The plan resulted in an institution that spans the entire Rio Grande Valley, with facilities in the major metropolitan areas of Brownsville, Edinburg, Harlingen and McAllen, as well as presence throughout the entire region. The master plan creates a singular University that successfully operates in distributed model across the Rio Grande Valley, supported with the optimal research, digital and physical infrastructure for achieving an integrated cultural, operational and place-making transformative impact. The new university design is a bold departure from the traditional, as UT seeks to establish a vision for campuses designed to promote and accommodate a new model of university excellence, one that is fully engaged and integrated with the community and uniquely planned to increase student success, improve health and wellness, stimulate research and economic development, and solve other critical regional, state, and global problems. Mindful of emerging technologies, best practices in student success, research, health, community engagement, and global outreach, and the evolving nature of higher education, Overland guided the development of the new University of Texas in South Texas into an international model for a 21st Century University.

Let’s shape future generations together.
